Overview

Up North Plastics, leading plastics manufacturer, is currently hiring a Safety Coordinator to join our team on our Day Shift.  Up North Plastics produces several lines of polyethylene products including high quality trash bags, construction films, and geomembrane liners.  Up North Plastics is also the most technologically advanced and largest recycler and compounder of polyethylene in the world.

 

**$21.00-$24.00 per hour**

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • One-year experience in the Safety/Environmental field, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Associates degree or equivalent hours in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Business, or other relevant field is required. May be substituted with OSHA Training Institute Certifications such as; Safety & Health Fundamentals, Specialist in Safety & Health, or others.
  • Working knowledge of basic software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Email, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in all formats, including verbal, written & presentations
  • Working knowledge of federal safety (OSHA) regulations and required programs in the manufacturing environment (29 CFR 1910)
  • Ability to accept coaching and guidance and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coach employees on proper work methods and practices.
  • Conduct facility safety audits and work with management team to ensure completion of corrective actions.
  • Perform regular safety walks with the management team.
  • Advise on methods to minimize safety risks and provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace
  • Lead the accident investigation process.
  • Intervene in unsafe activities or operations.
  • Assist with LOTO reviews.
  • Liaise with supervisors to ensure incident reports are complete and accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Attend employee safety talks.
  • Collaborate with managers and supervisors to monitor compliance and identify safety issues.
  • Assist departments with proper waste disposal practices.
  • Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machine operation.
